Deadline: January 31, 2023
Applications are open for the ICTP Associateship Scheme Programme 2023. Scientists from and working in developing countries who want to maintain long-term connections with ICTP's stimulating research environment are invited to apply for the Associateship Scheme programme.
Since the Associateship Scheme began in 1964, the International Centre for Theoretical Physics (ICTP) has supported the visits of more than 3,000 Junior, Regular and Senior Associates. Many have leveraged their ICTP experience to achieve success in their scientific careers. For example, ICTP Associate Omololu Akin-Ojo has been appointed to lead ICTP's partner institute in Rwanda, the ICTP-East African Institute for Fundamental Research. Another ICTP Associate, Mary Teuw Niane, is the Minister of Higher Education and Research in Senegal.
Cost
- The Associateship Scheme covers travel costs and provides a living allowance for developing-world scientists to visit ICTP several times over a six-year period.
Eligibility
- All applicants must hold a PhD, come from or be working in a scientific institute in a developing country. Awards given to scientists who move to an advanced country will be suspended or cancelled.
- Prospective candidates should complete the online application form between October 1 and January 31 of the following year.
- The age limit for Senior Associates is 65 years.
Application
Candidates should request two senior scientists (preferably from an institute other than their own) who are well acquainted with their work to send a recommendation letter in support of their application addressing them to Dr. Ralph Gebauer, Head of the Office of Associates and Federated Institutes.
The deadline to apply, using ICTP's online application system, is January 31, 2023. Successful applicants will be able to visit ICTP starting in 2024.
