Amplifying Youth Voices for a Better Tomorrow
The IOM Global Youth Ambassador Initiative 2023 is designed to empower youth as agents of change in the realm of migration. By amplifying the voices of young people and advocating for youth-inclusive policies, this initiative aims to create a more inclusive and sustainable future for all.
Selected Migration Youth Ambassadors will collaborate closely with the IOM for a year, working on a range of critical migration issues, including climate mobility, human trafficking, xenophobia, health, and more. They will be at the forefront of efforts to engage communities in dialogues on migration and related topics.
Key Objectives of the Initiative
- Amplify Youth Voices: The initiative provides a platform for young individuals to express their perspectives, share experiences, and generate ideas related to migration. By doing so, it promotes a more inclusive and representative approach to migration governance.
- Advocate for Youth-Inclusive Policies: Youth Ambassadors will actively lobby for policies that prioritize the well-being of youth in host, transit, and destination communities, as well as young migrants in diaspora. They will facilitate the meaningful participation of young people in migration-related discussions and decision-making processes.
- Promote Safe and Dignified Migration: Ambassadors will engage in advocacy efforts to ensure access to information and resources related to migration and legal pathways.
- Empower Young People: Through capacity building, mentorship, and knowledge sharing, the Youth Ambassadors will develop leadership skills, gain a deeper understanding of migration issues, and acquire the confidence to address these challenges effectively. This will be done in collaboration with various stakeholders, including governments, local authorities, and the private sector.

- Possess a genuine interest in collaborating with an international organization and leveraging its global network.
Expectations from Youth Ambassadors
As a Youth Ambassador, you will be expected to:
- Contribute to discussions on migration issues and integrate migration considerations into other policy discussions. You'll also create content, advocate, and support fundraising efforts.
- Propose innovative ideas and pilot youth-led solutions to address challenges faced by young people, especially young migrants.
- Engage with your local community, collaborating with youth partners and stakeholders to raise awareness and share experiences.
- Present your work in high-level meetings.
